I am an accredited member of BACP and I subscribe to their Ethical Framework for Good Practice which includes the requirement of regular professional supervision and ongoing professional development. I have a post graduate diploma in psychodynamic counselling and a post diploma qualification in time-limited therapy. I carry full liability insurance. I have 15 years experience of working with adults on an individual basis within a large agency and I am currently seeing clients in private practice. I am able to offer support of an open-ended nature, as well as time limited, focused work of 6 to 12 sessions, depending on requirements. I also offer sessions online. |
How I work
I have experience in supporting change in people who are suffering from a wide range of emotional and psychological issues including: abuse, anger, depression, loneliness, loss, low self-esteem, panic attacks and work related problems. However we all have our own unique past and present and therefore our own unique pain. Within a psychodynamic framework, my role is to offer you non-judgemental support. I will actively listen and help you to explore the nature of your problem, which is causing you distress. My aim is to help you to challenge and reflect on your experiences in the context of the past as well as the present, in order to deepen your understanding of their roots, to gain a better understanding of what is going on and to find new ways of making sense of things. Although my approach acknowledges that the past is of central importance, it is the way in which past and present interact dynamically with each other that I will seek to address with you.
The most basic and powerful way to connect to another person is to listen. Just listen. Perhaps the most important thing we ever give each other is our attention…. A loving silence often has far more power to heal and to connect than the most well-intentioned words. – Rachel Naomi Remen |
