Juliet Birley – Psychodynamic Counsellor
About Me
My Approach
I have experience in supporting change in people who are suffering from a wide range of emotional and psychological issues.
I have worked for 18 years with adults on an individual basis, both within a large agency and in private practice.
‘The most basic and powerful way to connect to another person is to listen. Just listen. Perhaps the most important thing we ever give each other is our attention…. A loving silence often has far more power to heal and to connect than the most well-intentioned words.’
Rachel Naomi Remen
How I work
I have experience in supporting change in people who are suffering from a wide range of emotional and psychological issues including: abuse, anger, depression, loneliness, loss, low self-esteem, panic attacks and work related problems. However we all have our own unique past and present and therefore our own unique pain.
Within a psychodynamic framework, my role is to offer you non-judgemental support. I will actively listen and help you to explore the nature of your problem, which is causing you distress.
My aim is to help you to challenge and reflect on your experiences in the context of the past as well as the present, in order to deepen your understanding of their roots, to gain a better understanding of what is going on and to find new ways of making sense of things.
Although my approach acknowledges that the past is of central importance, it is the way in which past and present interact dynamically with each other that I will seek to address with you.
